Quilts!
Every summer I look forward to the end of the work year for 2 reasons: a hiatus from work (duh), and the summer quilting project. Each summer since I started learning to quilt, I have made one. Many times, during the year as well, I will have time to do another one. Here’e a few of my accomplishments.
2004 Doug’s Birthday Quilt
Entered in the 2004 Virginia State Fair.
He insists he remembers he has it, but I think it’s just a cover of blowing hot air so we don’t think he’s getting old!
Niko’s Quilt
Niko picked out the colors with me and I made the pattern. It’s a variation of a star quilt but more personalized. It represents Niko always swirling in a zillion different directions. The quilting on it is a 2 headed man either burning the candle at both ends or a human whirly-gig. He’s a warm-loving bundle of trying to please everyone.
Annie’s Quilt
The design evolved in my brain over time. The piecing on it is neat, but the best part is the quilting on it. I would hand quilt this one and the one I made Niko on the living room table at night listening to books on tape or praying. If I was drawing part of it or designing something to go on them, I would listen to books, but if I was stitching, then I would pray. I wanted my children to feel like they were wrapped in their mother’s prayers after I am gone.

I love your quilts!
